Every single ophthalmic procedure is carried out by skilled surgeons with the most recent tools and technologies. The Phacoemulsification Technique, which does not require stitches, is used in nearly all cataract operations under drop anaesthetic. Pars plana vitrectomy (to treat vision loss due to diabetes), internal limiting membrane peeling, and foveal translocation surgery for macula degeneration owing to senor ism are just a few of the complex vitreoretinal procedures that are successfully performed.

Donor corneas obtained from eye banks are used in corneal transplant surgeries.

The best techniques are used during glaucoma (eye tension), cross-eye vision, and retina decollement procedures.

LASIK surgery and drop anaesthesia are used in Excimer Laser applications for the treatment of myopia, astigmatism, and hypermetropia.

Cornea Transplant

What is a Cornea Transplant?

The clear, dome-shaped outermost layer of your eye called the cornea is responsible for a considerable portion of the focusing capacity of your eye. In a cornea transplant, also referred to as a keratoplasty, the surgeon replaces a portion of your cornea with corneal tissue from a donor. Both domestic and international eye banks offer this tissue.

Why is Cornea Transplantation performed?

Most frequently, a corneal transplant is done to help someone with a damaged cornea regain their vision. A cornea transplant can repair a damaged or diseased cornea, improve its look, and restore vision.

What ailments are managed by a corneal transplant?

A cornea transplant can be used to treat a variety of disorders, such as:

Corneal ulcers, including those caused by infection

Cornea scarring, caused by infection or injury

Fuchs’ dystrophy

Thinning of the cornea

A cornea that bulges outward (keratoconus)

Clouding of the cornea

Swelling of the cornea

Complications caused by previous eye surgery

Important information regarding your surgery: 

You may receive general or local anaesthesia depending on your situation (age, general health, type of eye illness, etc.). You will be urged to skip breakfast and drink the bare minimum of water while taking your daily medications. One week before the procedure, patients will be instructed to stop taking blood-thinning medications like aspirin. Before the operation, your doctor will go over all the specifics of the procedure that pertain to your eye.

After the Transplant: 

Patients will be instructed to use eye drops for a while after the procedure to avoid infection and a red reaction. Your normal activities won’t be affected, except avoiding strenuous exercise and shielding your eyes from direct impact (you may wear an eye patch). The average time to recover from an operation is one week. To make sure the procedure was successful, you will have control exams one day, one week, one month, and six months after the procedure.

Excitation Laser

25 years ago, Fyodorov’s scratch procedures were improved by the concept of correcting refractive defects by altering the cornea’s declivity. Myopia was being treated by flattening the cornea by scraping it with diamond-tipped blades. Researchers had to look for more effective methods because of the relative satisfaction they had with this one.



Twenty years ago, scientists discovered that the excimer laser can ablate tissue up to a thickness of 0.25 microns, effectively destroying it by vaporizing it. The technology has been improved, and the excimer laser is now incredibly consistent and dependable. The excimer laser has been used to correct refractive defects all over the world, including in our country, for roughly 15 years.

The ligaments separating the corneal cells are embraced by each laser pulse. This method has a sensitivity of up to 0.25 microns in thickness. In excimer laser technology, the laser beam ablates the targeted tissue to the required thickness and width. As a result, the eye’s refractive state adjusts as needed. Because this method doesn’t scratch the eye, pressure changes don’t endanger the eye’s health. The optic centre is not harmed by the laser since it only affects certain isolated regions of the cornea.


The PRK procedure was once employed for operations, however, today’s medical sciences favour Lasik or Lasek depending on the state of the eye.


Since 1994, this approach has been in use. The cornea is flapped and folded back using the Lasik excimer laser. This method significantly reduced postoperative pain. The very next day, the patient’s vision levels are sufficient. With Lasik, even severe refractive defects may be cured. The cornea shows no noticeable stains. Following Lasik surgery, the refractive error very seldom returns. Within a month, the stability is complete. After a month, if the patient still requires glasses, a second Lasik procedure may be performed by simply folding the existing flap. When performed on healthy eyes, Lasik surgery can effectively correct myopia up to -12,00 and hypermetropia up to +6,00.


Refractive surgery aims to reduce or, if possible, eliminate the refractive error. It is considered a favourable outcome if the patient can see without eyeglasses (at least as well as they see with them) following the procedure. An FDA-approved technique, the excimer laser has treated millions of patients. Drop anaesthetic is used during the Lasik procedure. With the use of a tool, the patient’s eyelids are held wide open so that they don’t blink. A microkeratome that will produce the flop is inserted into the eye once the cornea’s centre has been marked. The pressure the keratin creates during the preparation of the flap causes the sensation of light to vanish for three to four seconds. The duration of laser therapy is under a minute. After the eye has been meticulously cleaned and the flop has been folded back, the surgery is completed with an antibiotic drop. The eye may burn, itch, or feel as though something is in it on the first day, but the pain should go away the following day. The flap mustn’t wrinkle after the procedure. As a result, for one month, the eye should not be touched (most importantly the first days). The doctor needs to fold the flap back if it wrinkles.


Patients whose corneas are too thin for Lasik surgery can have it done. Drop anaesthetic is also used for this surgery. Throughout the laser operation, the patient doesn’t experience any pain. After lifting the cornea’s outermost layer, the laser procedure is carried out. The layer of the cornea is folded back after the laser procedure and a contact lens is placed on top. Until this layer heals naturally, the contact lens is left in place. The eye may burn, itch, or feel as though something is in it during the first several days. With this method, vision begins to improve the next day, but recovery takes longer (3 to 4 weeks) than with Lasik.
